Dr. Kimberley Dana Brown, DVM
Dr. Dana was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in many different towns along the East Coast. She even spent a little time in California as her dad spent 32 years in the Navy. Dr. Dana’s father’s best friend was an army veterinarian who left the army to start his own practice. He used to take care of the family pets. Dr. Dana visited and worked in his practice throughout her childhood. She realized she loved dogs and horses more than almost anything in the world and decided to attend vet school.
Dr. Dana received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech, a Master’s Degree in soil science at the University of Florida, and then received her DVM from Auburn University where she received the class award for medical proficiency. She started her career at Atwood Animal Hospital in Cranston and then spent 23 years as an associate veterinarian at West Greenwich Animal Hospital.
Janet Mack, VMD
Janet was born and raised in New England and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania school of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. Prior to becoming a Veterinarian, Janet attended Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and worked in human diagnostic ultrasound for many years before attending Veterinary school. Janet has over 30 years of experience working as a Veterinarian in New Hampshire. Most recently Janet was working as Veterinary Medical Director for the last 3 years in Rhode Island before joining Southern Rhode Island Animal Hospital.
Dr. Janet Mack has a passion for showing and breeding Australian Shepherds and also riding and showing her two horses. Most significantly, Dr. Mack takes pride in raising her two beautiful and accomplished daughters who have grown to work as an Equine Veterinarian and an Attorney.
Leah Barker
Born and raised in Woodstock Valley, CT Leah was first interested in vet med and started shadowing a large animal mobile vet and found out she absolutely loved it. She then went to pursue book work at Three Rivers Community College where she obtained a certificate in veterinary assistant. Through the hours she needed to pass the class, she got a job in CT at a small animal hospital where the hands on fun began. Fast forward to today, she’s been working along side Dr Dana for the past 3-4 years.
Some home life facts about Leah is she loves training her dogs and has a blast learning how to groom them. Through all the obedience training, barn hunt classes, dock diving, and trick classes to the furry grinch toes that need a good trim. Understanding the human- animal bond along with animal behavior is a must.
Leah lives in Sterling, CT with her husband and their daughter. She enjoys being a homebody with her 3 dogs and 1 cat while attending to a family farm.
Coty Spears-Fulton
A lifelong lover of animals, Coty grew up caring for animals with the influence from her grandparents who were known to have an array of farm animals. Coty began her Veterinary journey at Three Rivers Community College where she received her Veterinary assistant certification. Coty continued her career working for the past 5 years as a Veterinary Technician in Westerly, RI before joining the Southern Rhode Island Veterinary team.
Coty is a wife and mother to two handsome boys and one beautiful little girl. She is a fur mother to an Australian Shepard named Akela, and a long haired kitty named Mew. Coty has always had a strong passion for loving and caring for animals and spends her free time with family on her parents’ “Ashawaug Farm” where they promote the Narragansett Food Sovereignty initiative, and share their cultural plantings and traditional teachings.
Krysta Drake
Krysta was raised in North Kingston, RI. She started working with animals over 5 years ago as a dog groomer before switching to veterinary medicine to learn more about animals, and also to work with kitties. She took a break from veterinary medicine to follower in her late father’s footsteps and pursue a career in welding at General Dynamics Electric Boat. For many reasons she recently left that job and came to work here at Southern RI Animal Hospital after previously working alongside Dr. Dana at West Greenwich Animal Hospital years ago.
She is a major cat lover and has a black cat of her own named Fern, who is the love of her life. Krysta loves anything horror/Halloween related, loves to create art and take photographs of the outdoors, and still welds in her free time.
