Tonight is the full moon. Give your monthly preventatives!
NOTE: If you have another way to remember to give your preventatives, that’s okay too! Do what works for you. I thought it might be fun for us to all give it together.
Tonight is a supermoon, which means it will appear larger and brighter because it is close to the earth and full at the same time. “There are two types of blue moons: seasonal and monthly. The one Monday will be of the seasonal variety. A seasonal blue moon occurs when there are four full moons in a single season (on this occasion, summer). When this happens, the third of the four is considered a blue moon.”*
Thanks to everyone for giving us at least 24 hours notice (48 hours is even better) if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment!
It has been a busy month!
My son Carter (who is sometimes my receptionist) and I have been traveling to look at colleges that he might attend next year. He’s a senior at Chariho High School this fall. Since the last full moon we’ve toured:
- Northeastern University, Boston, MA
- Endicott College, Beverly, MA
- University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY
- Fordham University, Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses, NY
- We have plans to visit (before the next full moon):
- Duke University, Durham, NC
- University of NC, Chapel Hill and Wilmington campuses
- NC State University, Raleigh, NC
We visited Mammoth Cave and Natural Bridge while we were in KY. We ate great seafood in Gloucester, MA and we saw a Broadway musical in NYC. I hope everyone is traveling and resting and spending time with their loved ones this summer.
Some of you may know that I graduated from seminary in June 2023. I am leading a service once or twice a month at a local church. I was inspired to share the following at a service recently and I got a request to send it in writing so I will share it here as well. I wish I knew to whom to attribute the quote, but it was wisdom from one or more of my colleagues as I was going through seminary. Something I wrote in my notebook during a class discussion:
When we react with intensity there is a shadow. The charged energy prevents appropriate action. Once the emotional charge drops away the outer world actions are more appropriate. An emotional charge or intense reaction is a projection of our own shadow…once we deal with our own shadow what the other person is doing is no longer charged. It is just information. Notice your resistance.
If I can be friendly to the dragging around crummy parts of myself then I can also be friendly to God and to crummy people. I arrive with my own shadow people but they don’t get to drive the bus. (Oh God, sometimes they do!) Decide who is the bus driver. Where are we going? It takes an enormous amount of energy to keep the shadow. Once we reclaim the energy we can embody it and feel lively and light and lovely. Be gentle with ourselves and others.
We continue to provide great care for the furry members of your family.
We are offering treats at appointments and doing our best to make sure our patients and their pet parents get a warm welcome, personalized treatment plans, and feel as comfortable as possible while they are here.
- Dr Mack has been covering for me while I travel and for this I am forever grateful!
- Krysta is a cat whisperer and makes our feline patients feel right at home. She just finished her Master/Teacher certification in Reiki. Come visit and see if she has the “special touch” with your favorite feline!
- We are continuing our search for a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to replace Leah (dog whisperer) when she has her baby in March. Help us spread the word.
- Coty is our office manager, as well as an ace technician, she does our ordering, pays bills, answers the phone, and keeps the place running smoothly. I am always grateful for her support.
- Missy warmly answers the phone on Mondays and Fridays and her hens keep my family well stocked in eggs! Sally fills in on phones when we need her – a godsend – and Paula steps in to replace technicians when they need a break.
That’s our crew!
Happy summer!
Come see us.
Enjoy the full moon gazing.
